As of March 23rd. The Amerihost, which is the anchor hotel, has filled our block. In fact 47 of the 55 rooms in the hotel are being used by the SCA. Please feel free to call and check with them for cancellations. As of April 2nd, the Days Inn was also booked solid.As of April 10, the Days Inn had rooms again. They have told me it will continue to vary as they have blocks of rooms expiring. Please check both the web and a phone call if the web has them sold out.

 

Western Illinois University has rooms available to rent as well. They have two types run by two different departments. The Union has nice rooms that are like hotel rooms. As of April 10, these are available only for Saturday night. The cost on these is $50 per night for two or more people. Call 309-298-1941 for reservations on these rooms. Student Services has rooms available at Olson Conference Center.These are converted dorm rooms and have two single beds. I would not call these first class, but they are clean. Just think dorm room if you plan to stay here. The cost on these is $30 for one person and $35 for two people. Call 309-298-3500 for reservations on these rooms. University Maps are linked here.

 

The anchor hotel is the Amerihost of Macomb. There is a block of 45 room reserved under the name SCA. This hotel will keep the pool open all night Friday and Saturday for us and has granted us use of the meeting room on Friday. The room rate is $55 per night. There are a very limited number of kings mixed in the room selection. Please contact the hotel directly for this rate at 309-837-2220.

 

Other area hotels include the Days Inn, which is next door to the Amerihost. A block of rooms was going to be more expensive than the internet reservation rate. This rate was $44.20 on 3/22/2001. If you click here, you will see current rates and availablity for the entire weekend. This is the largest hotel in Macomb. The local number is 309-833-5511, but your rate will be higher if you book at this number.

 

There is also a Holiday Inn Express about ten minutes from site on the west end of town. There rates start at $69 per night. This hotel is about 3 miles from the site.

 

If you are arriving from the north, you might consider staying in Monmouth, Illinois. It is 29 miles north of Macomb at the interection of US 34 and US 67. I have found rooms available at the time of this writing at two hotels.

 

HAWTHORN MONMOUTH, Monmouth, IL, 309-734-0909. These rooms are $89.00 per night. They had 30+ rooms available

 

Super 8 Motel, 309-734-8558 or 800-800-8000. The internet rates on this hotel were $45.88. They had 22 rooms open.

 

If you can not find a hotel please notify the autocrat and you will get assitance and help you find another option on your way.

 

I have found that using an internet engine like Travelocity.com, you can get a lower rate than the hotel will give you. They base this on how many rooms are available and amount of time left until the date. I have found the rate at the Days Inn as low as $41.50 and at the Holiday Inn at $62.10.
