  28. What officer changes (if any) are you anticipating for the next year: We have changed to a new MOAS effective now. Lord Aleator left the group in August and has just been replaced by Lady Elsebeth. Lord Morgan has volunteered to become our Herald.

  39. Please give a synopsis of activities held by your group other than meetings. (Fight practice, dance practice, A&S sessions, etc.): We hold mostly weekly fighter practices during the academic year and every other week in the summer.

July 19 – Held a demonstration of combat arts for the Cub Scouts of Adams County. This was a one hour show to entertain and instruct the scouts on combat and chivalry. We were assisted by the Shire of Ivory Keep, Calontir. This was attended by about 40 cub scouts and another dozen or so parents and leaders.

 

October 25 – Held a recruiting demo in Chandler Park in conjunction with our Shire Championship tournaments. We had just a handful of people stopped in.

(Officer/member(s) organized/ran activities at another groupÕs event; participated in a joint fundraising activity with another group): Ix served as youth marshal in charge for Feast of St Ethyl held by Swordcliffe in July.

  5. What do you already have planned or on the calendar for next year: To become a Canton (or College) of the Barony of Illiton. Fighter Practices have been scheduled through May.
  6. Problems faced during the year and how they were handled: Lord Aleator left the group in September and he had been a major activity leader as or A&S officer. The group has struggled to replace him in all ways, not the least of which is to fill the office.

In your honest, objective opinion, what are the most immediate issues facing your group (Are these your concerns or the collective concerns of the group; What solutions have you proposed, and what responses have you received; Please include both short-term and long-term concerns): Working with the college has become the most important issue for us. The college offers us free facilities and a place to recruit from, but we continue to have little luck on campus.

Summarize all of the positive things that have happened during the past year (new members; old members returned: new group interest; successful group projects; new event sites, etc.): We held two demos this year. I would note that one was run without me. That is a good thing as I had been at every demo the group had done in the last ten years.

  2. Is anyone in your group aligned in a treaty with a bordering kingdom: Dan and Rose Smith live in Quincy, but have chosen to play in Calonitr. They have both changed their SCA names upon the move and I do not have their new ones right now. I do not know if they are proceeding with being put on the treaty but I will try to find out.

We are looking for direction. I am personally struggling to just keep things going. We made the choice to petition to become a College or Canton of the Barony of Illiton. I think that this will help us a great deal by providing backup and support for the officers and members of the group. My letter to that affect accompanies this report. I am also copying this report to the Seneschal of Illiton as a courtesy.
