1.
How long have you retained the office of Seneschal?
20
days
a.
What preparations are you making for a possible change in officer?
Right
after I stepped up, I sent out an e-mail asking for anyone who is interested to
contact me about being a deputy.
b.
Do you have any deputies, and are they prepared to step up if needed?
I do not have any at this time.
2.
If you do have a deputy or deputies, please include their contact information
here.
3.
Please list officer and/or address changes for the year.
I stepped up as Seneschal with Lord Alaric stepping down.

Sergeant Roland the Sullen stepped down as herald. I am working
on find a replacement for him.
4.
Please list your groups meeting schedule for this past year.
We held meetings on an as needed basis usually in conjunction
with another group gathereing.
5.
Average Number of People attending meetings.
That would be 5 on average
6.
What is the number of persons in the group as a whole? (not a status
breakdown,
just # of people).
There are 23 people that have attended some SCA function in
2007 that I am aware of who reside in the borders of Lochmorrow.
7.
Please give a synopsis of activities held by your group other than meetings.
(Fight
practice, dance practice, A&S sessions etc.)
Weekly armored and rapier practices were held throughout most
of the year. A&S meetings were held every other week during the school
year.
8.
Please provide a summary of any demos that the group has held or
participated
in during the last year. Remember to include the what, when, where and outcome of each demo.
Lochmorrow held only one demo this year. It was our annual demo
for St PaulÕs 5th grade class. It was held on Sept 21, 2007 at St
Paul School. It was to show the class armored knights at the end of their study
of the Middle Ages. It was well
received. This is the 8th consecutive year we have done this demo.
9.
Please summarize any/all events that your group has held this past year.
Please
include average attendance, good
things, bad things, learning experiences, and any other reflections from yourself, or the group.
Lochmorrow hosted Bardic Madness South IX on Dec 15th.
The event was attended by 54 people from 4 kingdoms. It was a specialty event
and as such it worked very well. The best thing about the event was the reviews
I read of it on blogs. The worst thing was only eight members from Lochmorrow
showed up to either help or participate. We had the feast catered by WIU and
that went much better than expected and with the active help in the group, is
something that we would consider doing again.
9.
What activities has your group participated in to assist another group?
People went to help at a Shattered Crystal Demo in
September.
a.
Has your marshal gone and run the fighting for another event?
Sir Ix ran youth combat at the Feast of St Ethyl in Swordcliffe
in July.
b.
Has your group run the lunch tavern at another event?
No
c.
Have you held any group fundraising activities?
No
10.
Does your group have a local newsletter?
No
11.
Has your group received any media coverage during an event or demo in the last
year?
The Macomb Journal stopped in at Bardic Madness but nothing was
published.
12. What are your
future plans/hopes for the group?
I would like to get more people back involved. I would like to
find new leadership instead of just moving people around offices. I want to get
more activity from campus members. I would like to add another local gathering
so people can get together.
a.
What do you already have planned or on the calendar for next year?
We are going to host a regional fighter practice.
b.
What officer changes (if any) are you anticipating?
We need a herald. There is a chance that our MOA/S will be
moving out of the area very soon.
13.
In your honest, objective opinion, what are the most immediate problems
facing
your group?
Recycling of officers
a.
Are these your concerns or the collective concerns of the group?
I am pretty sure they are both
b.
What solutions have you proposed, and what responses have you
received? Pease include both short-term and
long-term concerns.
Working on that.
14.
Now, please take some time to reflect on all of the positive things that have
happened during the past year. What are some of
these things?
a.
Have you gained new members, or has the group found a new interest?
As usual we added many new members when the school year
started. At the time of this writing, we still had 4 attending.
b.
Maybe someone who wasnÕt actively participating is now leading a new
activity?
That would be a great idea.
c.
Maybe a new event site worked out better than you anticipated?
15.
Additional comments:
This is my second time around as seneschal for Lochmorrow and my third trip as a seneschal. I took the position reluctantly as I feel that I do not have anything new to offer the group. I would like to train someone to take over with fresh ideas and enthusiasm. In the meantime I plan to act as a good caretaker.
